Natura Renatus

by Foxtrot Artistry

Natura Renatus is something that Kenzie started in order to share more of the actual, natural world with people. These pieces offer more of a connection to the lives these animals and species lived, and there's more of a deeper, introspective aspect behind them as well with knowing that whether we realized it or not, we shared this Earth with them. They made memories, had lives, had families, had personalities, and so much more, and when we realize that, taxidermy and entomology pieces feel emotionally different. They become more delicate in our minds' eye, and they're something that should be treated with respect, just like when they were alive.

Through taxidermy and entomology, Kenzie is able to give them a second life, where they can continue to be loved and honored. It's also a way to honor the relationship between life and death, and act as a bridge between the two.

With these pieces of art, Kenzie invites you to add a piece of the true, natural world into your life, and whether that's in your home, workspace, or even for a friend.

Sourcing: Kenzie is committed to finding sustainable sources when she finds her animals, and none of them died just for the sake of art.

– For insects, this means that they’re either natural deaths, or from sustainability farms that release a portion of their butterflies & moths back into the wild to help the wild populations. This keeps the wild populations healthy, as well as the ecosystem.
– For other species, this means that they’re either victims of roadkill, or acquired through wildlife management. Populations are managed for various species in order to prevent diseases, starvation, etc. Animals acquired this way are heavily licensed and regulated by the states in order to ensure that the animals were taken humanely, and didn’t endure prolonged periods of suffering.
